The Moment We've All Been Waiting For: Zack Greinke

      Tonight, we get our first look at Dodgers second ace, Zack Greinke. Zack, our most important off season pick up, will make his Dodgers debut against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In a race against the Texas Rangers, the Dodgers won the heart of Zack and it was not cheap. Before Felix Hernandez and Justin Verlander signed their mega contracts, Zack was the highest paid pitcher with with a six year, $158  million deal. With Kershaw and Greinke at the one-two spot, we expect the Dodger to be at the top of the NL West.
       Last year when he started with the Brewers, Greinke went 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA. After requesting a trade, Greinke was sent packing with to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. With the Angels, Zack went 6-2 with a 3.54 ERA. This year, Greinke hopes to get 20 wins and a low ERA. We have lots of hope with Zack Greinke and we expect him to have a phenomenal year wearing that Dodger blue.

Can the Dodgers Bounce Back Against the Pirates?

       The "Whole New Blue" Dodgers are looking exactly like the Dodgers we saw at the end of the 2012 season. They have not found a way to score with runners in scoring position. In the series against the Giants, the only RBI came from Clayton Kershaw's home run. That is unbelievable with all the bats that they have in their lineup. I'm not saying it's time to panic, but it is time to step it up. Matt Kemp and Luis Cruz are yet to get hits through the first three games. Hopefully they can get things going against the Pirates.
       On a good note, Carl Crawford is having a phenomenal year so far. His hits are there but there is nobody else to pick him up. Go Doyers!

      Carl Crawford will not be in tonight's lineup against the San francisco Giants. Manager Don Mattingly said that Crawford's absence has nothing to do with injury. He says that this was a scheduled off day for Crawford.

As we all know, Dodgers are taking it slow with bringing back Crawford. Who wouldn't? Coming off Tommy John surgery, he is going to make 20 million this year and is the main catalyst in the lineup. The Dodgers are handling him with care, but they are going to have to remove his leash if they want this offense to destroy other teams. We still have 160 games left in the season but they future of the Dodgers lies in the bat of Carl Crawford. 

                                                                                          

Opening Day 2013: Pregame

       Not even a gloomy morning could ruin the day of Dodger fans. I got about four hours of sleep the night before Opening Day because the anticipation kept me up.  It was one the the biggest days of my life. My very first Opening Day experience. On my way to Los Angeles, I saw several billboards that read "A Whole New Blue." Seeing those made me want to get to the stadium even faster. My friend Anthony was just as excited as I was. The one thing that I did not miss about baseball season was the traffic in and out of Dodger Stadium. It also does not help that I drive this giant truck. 
           So, let's talk about the pregame festivities. There was an unexpected performance from the Blue Men Crew before the game. They get all the fans pumped. After that, they played a sweet Opening Day intro that featured celebrities and local athletes like Kobe Bryant, Landon Donavan, Kevin Hart, and George Lopez. The list goes on and on.

     Then we had the traditional player intros and the oversized American flag. What more could you ask for? You have your Dodger dog, garlic fries, a nice cold drink, and sea of blue all around the Stadium.                                                                                                                    

Puig Optioned to Minors

I am sad to announce that the Dodgers have sent Cuban sensation, Yasiel Puig, down to Double A. The decision came down when Don Mattingly said that he does not want to do the same thing to Puig that he did

to Dee Gordon. As some of you remember, Dee was brought in to fill in for Rafael Furcal. Dee shined for the remainder of the season but that didn't transition over to the 2012 season. With a surplus of outfielders, it made sense for the Dodgers to send Puig down. Though Mattingly did not rule out Puig getting called up during the season. It's only going to be a matter of time until we see the Cuban star break out into the Majors. See you soon Yasiel!!

Only 8 Days Until Opening Day

Only eight more days until Opening Day. This year, Opening Day is going to be special because this is my first time going. It's going to be a sweet homecoming because I missed Dodger Stadium. I can't wait for the great atmosphere. We can't forget about the Dodger Dogs. Strap in your seat belts boys and girls because we have a championship to win!
